10/12/2006 9:59

Bahrain has taken the last seat of the men's volleyball quarterfinals after a 3-2 hard win over the unyielding Chinese Taipei on Saturday in Doha.
Bahrain will play host Qatar in the quarterfinals, while Chinese Taipei, however, finished runner-up in Pool B after Bahrain had a 3-1 win-loss record in the preliminaries.
Before that, Saudi Arabia has sealed a quarterfinal seat as top finisher of Pool A, and they will face Japan on Monday.
Ten men's teams are competing for another two seats of the quarterfinals with Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand and Bahrain in Pool B, while India, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates in Pool A. Only the top finisher of two groups qualified for the quarterfinals.
Host Qatar has directly entered the last eight with five world championship participants, namely China, Japan, South Korea, Iran and Kazakhstan.
In another three matches of the day, Lebanon clinched a dramatic five-set victory over Kuwait, while India and Thailand both harvested a comfortable straight-set victory over United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong, China.
For the women's part, China, Chinese Taipei, Japan and Thailand have entered the semifinals.
Defending champion China, which has not lost a single set in the qualifying, will be challenged by in-form Chinese Taipei on Sunday, while Japan will meet high-spirited Thailand.
