Jang Sun Jae of South Korea lived up to his favorite billing by winning the
men's 4km individual pursuit at the 15th Asian Games in Doha on
Sunday.
"Today I only concentrated on the race, not on the record as yesterday," said
Jang.
Jang, who broke the Asian Games record on Saturday, clocked four minutes
35.433 to take the gold, beating Japanese Nishtani Taiji who finished 6.648
seconds for the silver.
"I am a bit frustrated but his power was stronger. It cannot be helped, "
said Nishtani.
Nishtani Led by 1.368 seconds after the first kilometer, but faded over the
final two kilometers to record a time of 4:42.081.
"I tried to pace up first, I did my best yesterday so I a little bit tired, "
added Nishtani.
South Korean Hwang In Hyeok fended off fast-finishing Mehdi Sohrabi of Iran
to win the bronze in 4:38.589.
"I am very young. I did not have much time for my training and I don't have
much experience. So, I am really happy to win the bronze," said Hwang.
Jang Sun Jae clocked four minutes and 30.355 seconds on Saturday to break the
Games record of 4:35.571, set by Vadim Kvavtchenko of Kazakhstan in Busan, South
