Uzbekistan's Vadim Menkov snatched the gold medal in the men's C1 1000m of canoe and kayak competition at the Doha Asian Games in Doha on Monday.

Vadim Menkov caught up with the first 250m leader Yevgeniy Bezhnar of Kazakhstan and led the way to finish the race in four minutes and 57.815 seconds, followed by Bezhnar in 4:58.571.

Japan's Taito Ambo took the bronze in 5:08.883, while Olympic champion Yang Wenjun of China settled fifth in 5:20.247.
