Host Qatar beat Iran 2-0 to enter the men's soccer final at the Doha Asian
Games on Tuesday.
The match began at 1900 (1400 GMT) at Al-Sadd Football Stadium which was
filled with thousands of Qatari funs.
Qatar gained upper hand from the very beginning. Their two fast-paced
strikers Abdularhman Hussain Yaser and Quintana Sebastian broke the Iranian
defense time and again.
Qatar opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Sebastian powered the ball
into left lower corner with a long shot from the right corner of the box.
After the interval, the Iranian side strengthened attacks but created few
scoring chances.
Meanwhile, Iran left too much room for Qatari strikers and paid price. Qatari
forward Yaser sealed the victory in the 74th minute when his powerful shot hit
one Iranian defender's leg and deflected into the net.
Qatar will face Iraq, who stunned South Korea 1-0 earlier in the day, in the
final on Dec. 15.
