Iran revenged their early loss to Jordan with a 84-78 victory to grab the
bronze medal of the Asian Games men's basketball tournament here on Friday.
Aidin Nikkhah Bahrami's three goals in a row pushed Iran to 80-68 with less
than five minutes remaining and almost sealed the victory despite Jordan's run
later in the third quarter, which cut the deficit to five points.
Mahdi Kamrany led Iran with 19 points while captain Karam Ahmadian added 18.
Iran, an 59-62 loser to Jordan at their openning match of the tournament,
opened the third quarter with an astonishing 20-2 run, pulling away 63-36.
However, Enver Soobzokov hit three three-pointers to lead Jordan to a 20-4
bounce-back to pull within 67-56before the fourth.
Jordan's center Islam Abbas hit eight of nine two-pointers and five of eight
free throws to score a game-high 21 points plus nine rebounds.
