Emergency supplies arrive in Fallujah
14/11/2004 17:02

Emergency supplies from the Red Crescent in Iraq have arrived in the Fallujah.

It's the first batch of humanitarian aid transported to Fallujah since the US forces launched massive offensives against insurgents in the city from last week.

The convoy includes food, medicine, tents and clothes.

There are fears that Fallujah residents are facing starvation and a shortage of drinking water. Power has been completely cut in the city.

Earlier, Iraq's National Security Advisor Qassim Dawood announced the major assault to retake the rebel-held city of Fallujah has ended.

More than one thousand insurgents were killed in the offensive and 200 captured. Twenty-two US soldiers were killed and more than 170 wounded.
