25/11/2004 10:52

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder on Wednesday discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine's presidential elections.
Schroeder expressed in a telephone call with Putin his concerns over the situation in the Ukraine, said spokesman of German government Thomas Steg in Berlin.
The two leaders agreed that the conflict over the presidential election must be resolved in the framework of Ukrainian laws and a peaceful solution must be found, the spokesman said.
Schroeder also talked with Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski on the situation in Ukraine per telephone on the same day.
"Let us help together so that the situation doesn't become out of control," said Schroeder.
German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer stressed that everything must be done to conduct a review of the election in Ukraine.
It is necessary that the free will of the majority be expressed in the final result, he noted.
Ukraine's Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich has won the country' s presidential elections, the central election commission announced Wednesday.
