Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma said here Sunday the resolution passed
by the Parliament which declares Dec. 21 presidential run-off invalid is not
legally binding, local media reported.
The invalidation declaration was passed on Saturday by 255 of the 429
legislators attending the special parliament session on the election dispute.
The congress also passed a non-trust resolution on the Ukraine Central
Election Commission, which oversaw the presidential election and announced the
Ukraine Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich won the election.
However, the congressmen failed to pass a decision to organize another round
of election.
Opposition leader, former prime minister Viktor Yushchenko, has since last
week repeatedly refused to accept his defeat, claiming he was cheated out of
victory, and has been urging his supporters to take to the street.
