Ukraine's presidential candidate, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych refused
Monday to concede defeat in Sunday's revote of presidential run-off, vowing to
appeal to court to annul the results.
"I will never acknowledge such a defeat because the constitution and human
rights were violated," he said in televisedremarks.
"I intend to get the supreme court to review the outcome of theelection and
to cancel the results," he said.
With 99.77 percent of the vote counted, his rival, opposition leader Viktor
Yushchenko got 52.06 percent of the vote, while Yanukovych gained 44.11 percent,
according to the Central ElectionCommission.
