Ukraine's Supreme Court turned down on Monday four more complaints from
presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovych's team against the Central Election
Commission.
The four complaints, which had been submitted to the court
against CEC's Dec. 30 decisions, were rejected on the grounds that their
contents did not meet the requirements of election law, according to Liana
Shlyaposhnikova, a Court spokeswoman.
Shlyaposhnikova said the complaints
also did not contain concrete requirements and did not specify how the
candidate's rights had been violated and how to restore them.
The CEC
on Dec. 30 rejected to consider complaints from Yanukovych's representatives in
local election districts, demanding to annul ballot results in their
districts.
The Supreme Court's ruling came as the CEC was to announce the
final official results of the Dec. 26 revote of the presidential
election.
The preliminary results gave Yanukovych's rival, the opposition
leader Viktor Yushchenko, a win with 51.99 percent of the vote against
Yanukovych's 44.19 percent.
However, Yanukovych, who resigned as prime
minister, has said he will never concede defeat.
