Israeli and Palestinian officials to cooperate on elections
26/12/2004 18:03
Israeli and Palestinian officials are set to sign deals to facilitate the
Palestinian presidential elections in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East
Jerusalem.
Palestinian sources say Israel has promised to ease some restrictions for
Palestinians to participate in the elections on January the 9th. They say the
Israeli army would gradually withdraw from some areas of the occupied
territories, with the aim of aiding a smooth election. The two sides have also
agreed to set up three liaison offices at checkpoints to solve any problems that
emerge.
