Israeli troops on Thursday arrested at least 32 Palestinians including a senior leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the West Bank, Palestinian security sources said.

The sources said Israeli troops stormed several villages north of the West Bank city of Ramallah and arrested 13 Palestinians. Ten more Palestinians were arrested in the village of Karawet and one was arrested in the Tulkarem village.

Mahmoud Barghouti, senior Hamas leader and a candidate of the Palestinian municipal elections, was also arrested along with another Palestinian by Israeli troops in the village of Deer Ghassana.

The Israeli side claimed that the two are both wanted for involvement in attacks against the Israeli targets.

In addition, Israeli troops stormed the refugee camp of Balata on Thursday and arrested six Palestinians.
