Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian mainstream Fatah
movement claimed responsibility for killing one Israeli and wounding three
others Friday near the town of Nablus.
The group said in a leaflet distributed in the northern part of the West Bank
that the attack is to revenge the Israeli army military actions carried out
against the Palestinians.
Israel Radio reported that one Israeli was killed and three others were
wounded Friday afternoon when Palestinian gunmen opened fire on an Israeli
vehicle near the West Bank city of Nablus.
One of the wounded was listed in serious condition, a second was in
moderate-to-serious condition and the third was in light condition, said the
radio.
It added that evidence at the scene indicated two gunmen who were waiting on
both sides of a highway near the West Bank village of Otzarin ambushed two
vehicles traveling westward from the Jordan Valley region.
A gun battle broke out between the motorists, who were armed, and the
assailants, who subsequently managed to flee the scene, the radio reported.
