The newly elected Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas
will be sworn in on Saturday, Palestinian officials said Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Palestinian officials told Xinhua that the current government will
continue its job until the new PNA chairman authorizes Prime Minister Ahmed
Qurei to form a new government.
Social Welfare Minister Intisar Al Wazir said the government hasn't discussed
the issue of the formation of a new government.
"We met today in a normal meeting, but we didn't discuss the issue of the new
government, because we will wait until Abbas asks Qurei to form the new
government," the minister said.
Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Abu Naja said, "I know this government will
change, but not reform."
"The change will include seven ministers. If the change includesmore than
seven ministers, it need confidence from the legislative council," Abu Naja
added.
According to Palestinian officials, Qurei will add some known faces to his
new government, including former Interior Security Minister Mohammed Dahlan as
deputy head of the Palestinian nationalsecurity council, headed by Qurei.
