Registrar assigned for Charles and Camilla wedding
24/3/2005 10:24
Clarence House announced on Wednesday that Superintendent Registrar of the
Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Clair Williams, would lead the ceremony
on April 8.
"It has come as something of a shock both to me and my team,
but thankfully a very pleasant and nice one."
Prince Charles' three
siblings, Prince Andrew, Edward, Edward's wife Sophie and Princess Anne as well
as his son Prince William will be amongst those attending the ceremony at
Windsor town hall.
It is unprecedented for an heir to the throne to
marry outside of a church, but the Church of England, of which Charles will be
head if he becomes king - has qualms about remarriage for divorcees.
Queen Elizabeth II raised eyebrows when she announced last month that
she would not attend the wedding. The queen will attend a blessing ceremony at
Windsor Castle after the civil ceremony.
