Mexico starts anti-terror plan
8/7/2005 16:17
The Mexican government announced Thursday that it has put into effect an
anti-terror plan to fend off possible attacks on the country. The plan,
code-named "Plan Sentinel," was issued the same day when a series of blasts
ripped through central London at morning rush hours, killing at least 37 people
and injuring hundreds more. Interior Minister Carlos Abascal said the plan
will put strict surveillance on strategic facilities, including oil,
hydroelectric, telecommunications, transportation, harbor and airport
infrastructure. It will also reinforce vigilance on foreign embassies and
diplomatic missions in the country, he added.
