Australian FM concerned over no warning of London attacks

Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer expressed concern on Friday over
the lack of intelligence or warning of terrorist attacks in London. He said
there had been intelligence about possible terrorist attacks on Heathrow Airport
in the past, but he was not aware of any fresh information. "The British
didn't appear to have any specific information that at least I'm aware of in
relation to this terrorist attack," he said. "And we have very close
intelligence liaison with the British." He also told Melbourne radio station
3AW that the blasts in London were more than likely the work of al-Qaeda. At
least 52 people were killed and 700 people injured when a series of bombs went
off in central London during the morning rush hour on Thursday.
