Malaysia is ready to cooperate in the probe into the blasts that tore through
packed underground trains and a bus stand in London, Deputy Prime Minister Najib
Tun Razak said Friday. "Sometimes, investigations into terrorist activities
require the cooperation of other nations given the global dimension for
gathering information," Razak was quoted as saying by the Bernama News
Agency. He was speaking to reporters after conferring an award on Thai Air
Force Chief Kongsak Wantana at the Ministry of Defense in Kuala
Lumpur. Razak, who is also Defense Minister, said he was confident that
Britain would not bow to those responsible for the attacks, adding that these
acts of terrorism were also aimed at creating fear among the people. "If we
are afraid and do not get on our daily lives, we would be living in fear. This
means they (terrorists) have succeeded in achieving their objectives," Razak
said. Nations, in their fight against terrorism, must ensure that their
security measures were in place, tightened and enforced, instead of making their
citizens change their lifestyles, He added. On another matter, Razak, who had
a meeting with Kongsak Friday morning, said he was satisfied with the bilateral
airforce cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand.
