Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda Friday condemned the series of
bomb blasts that occurred in London Thursday killing more than 33 people and
expressed his condolences and deep sympathy to the victims'
families. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a State Palace ceremony
marking the installation of General Sutanto as the new chief of Indonesia's
National Police, Hassan said the London incidents showed that terror attacks
could happen in any country at any time. "No country in the world is immune
(to terrorism)," Hassan said, adding that therefore all countries in the world
should prepare themselves for the possibility of terror attacks. Hassan said
Indonesia condemned the brutal attacks in London as they had killed innocent
people. He expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the
victims and the hope that similar incidents would not happen again in the
future. Hassan confirmed reports that an Indonesian was injured in one of the
blasts and identified the Indonesian citizen as Agus Warcoko, deputy director of
BNI bank's branch office in London. Agus was a passenger on the double-decker
bus which was one of the targets of the four terror attacks. He suffered only
light injury and was not hospitalized. According to the latest reports, at
least 37 people were confirmed dead and 700 injured in the London bomb blasts
which took place in four places - three at busy underground train stations and
one on a bus. The explosions hit the Aldgate East-Liverpool Street Tube
Station, Edgware Road Tube Station, King's Cross Tube-Russell Square, and on a
bus that was cruising on Woburn Place, close to Russell Square.
