Saddam's co-defendants

Saddam Hussein and seven former aides are scheduled to go on trial today for their alleged roles in a 1982 massacre in the Iraqi town of Dujail. About 150 people were killed and 1,500 others imprisoned or tortured after a failed assassination attempt on Saddam.

Saddam Hussein: Ruler from 1979 until ousted in April 2003 after U.S.-led invasion. Captured Dec. 14, 2003.

Barazan Ibrahim: Intelligence chief at time of Dujail killings; Saddam's half brother.

Taha Yassin Ramadan: Former bank clerk; longtime aide; Iraq's vice president from 1991.

Awad Hamed al-Bandar: Head of Revolutionary Court that issued death sentences against Dujail residents.

Abdullah Kazim Ruwayyid: Baath Party official in Dujail region, believed responsible for Dujail arrests

Ali Dayim Ali: Baath official in Dujail region

Mohammed Azawi Ali: Baath official in Dujail region
