Olympic champ Xing wins women's 5,000m

Olympic 10,000m champion Xin Huina won the women's 5,000m run at the East
Asian Games on Friday. The 21-year-old Xing clocked 16:04.56 for the gold,
followed by Hiromi Ominami in 16:10.77 and Baei Hae-jin in 16:35.36. In last
month's Chinese National Games Xing hit a 5,000-10,000m golden double but was
stripped of her 1,500m gold for elbowing second-placed Liu Qing in the final
meters. Chinese Feng Yun earlier won the women's 100m hurdles, beating
runner-up teammate Su Yiping by 0.35 seconds and Kumiko Ikeda by a further
0.01. The athletics competition is to end Friday afternoon.
