Jihad demands following Palestinian collaborators

The Islamic Jihad (Holy War) announced on Saturday that the movement would
demand the Palestinian security apparatuses to follow collaborators with Israel
and impose security on the Palestinian lands. Khaled al-Batsh, a senior Jihad
leader, told Xinhua before joining a meeting of Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei and
different national and Islamic factions at the headquarters of the executive
committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in the Gaza
Strip. Batsh said "there's fear that the Israeli army would attack the
Palestinian people in case Arafat passes away. We have to be ready for such a
situation." The French hospital, where Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat is
receiving intensive care, said Friday that his health "has not deteriorated and
is considered stable". Conflicting reports emerged earlier on the health
condition of Arafat, with some saying Arafat was brain dead and on life support
machines.
