The death toll in Tsunami in Sri Lanka has risen to 21,715, the government said on Wednesday.
Nimal Wanigasuriya, a social service officer of the government, said another 3,009 deaths had been reported as the rescue work was continuing.
The government had last put the death toll at 18,706.
More than 55,000 people have been killed in south and southeast Asia following a strong earthquake Sunday in the Indian Ocean which trigger massive tsunamis.
