At least 46 passengers were rescued after a boat ran aground in central
Philippines, a local radio reported Wednesday. Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)
spokesman Arman Balilo told radio dzMM that search and rescue personnel are
still looking for more passengers on boat MV "Yellow Rose", which ran aground
off Nasuan island near Cordova, Cebu. Three children were among the
passengers, the PCG said. Passengers told the radio that the boat sailing
from Bohol to Cebu was supposed to dock at 12:30 a.m. in Cebu but ran aground
near the island at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Passengers also said that some of the
seamen seemed drunk so it was possible that they could have lost track of the
trip. The cause of the incident is still under investigation, the PCG
said.
