The Indonesian Health Ministry said Tuesday that nearly 400,000 people in the
country were displaced by the earthquake-triggered tsunami.
The ministry said in a statement that 387,607 people became refugees.
The ministry said Monday that some 95,000 people died after anextremely
powerful earthquake rocked Aceh province on Dec. 26, unleashing tidal waves and
tsunamis.
"The highest figure today is 95,000 people who died," an official in charge
from a data center of the ministry told Xinhua through telephone. Some 94,081
people have been confirmed dead.
