Turkish Red Crescent will dispatch anaid team later Monday to extend relief
to the south and southeast Asian countries hit by massive quake and tsunami, the
humanitarian group said.
The team which comprises of 11 experts and two volunteers will fly to the
Thai capital of Bangkok on Monday evening and then proceed to disaster areas in
Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
They will extend nutrition and health assistance to 500 familiesand 2,500
quake and tsunami survivors.
The death toll has topped 150,000 people since an 8.7-magnitude underwater
earthquake struck off the Indonesian island of Sumatra on December 26 and
triggered tsunamis which hit the coastlines of the Indian Ocean.
