A moderate aftershock from the Dec.26 massive earthquake shook the Indonesian
province of Aceh on Wednesday but caused no major damage, the Meteorology and
Geophysics office said.
The aftershock at 01:26 a.m. (1826 GMT Tuesday) measured 5.1 on the Richter
scale, and was centered 33 kilometers under the Indian Ocean, 66 kilometers
southwest of Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh province, the office said in a
statement.
There have been no reports of damage or tsunamis, the office said.
The massive earthquake and the tsunami that followed on Dec. 26, 2004,
claimed 94,200 lives in the country with 6,700 listed asmissing, according to
government figures.
