Global tsunami aid pledges rise to $4 bln: UN

UN humanitarian chief Jan Egeland says that world governments and
international organizations have pledged between three and four billion US
dollars in financial assistance for survivors of the Indian Ocean tsunami.
In another development, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder says his
government has decided to increase its aids to 500 million euros or 670 million
US dollars.
Turkey has announced to offer 1 million dollars of donations and Greece says
it has already provided 1.34 million US dollars of humanitarian aids to the
tsunami-hit countries.
