Two earthquakes shook the Indonesian province of Aceh on Friday, with the
local geophysics agency warning about continued aftershocks since the world's
strongest quake in 40 years that triggered a tsunami on Dec. 26. The first
quake measuring at 5.4 on the Richter scale was felt in the provincial capital
of Banda Aceh at 03:10 local time and around three hours later a 4.6-magnitude
quake jolted the tsunami- ravaged city again, reported the Antara news
agency. A local official with the geophysics agency said aftershocks will
continue to hit Aceh in the next several weeks. A 9-magnitude quake on Dec.
26 has triggered a tsunami that flattened several towns in Aceh and killed more
than 110,000 people.
