Turkish President Ahmed Necdet Sezer on Monday sent his condolences to leaders of the countries hit by Sunday's massive quake disaster.
Sezer sent his messages of condolences to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Indian President Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Malaysian King Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail, Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga and Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
In the messages, Sezer expressed his profound sorrow over the death of about 25,000 people in the disaster and offered his condolences.
In addition, Turkish government spokesman and Justice Minister Cemil Cicek earlier also expressed condolences over the death of southern Asian citizens due to the strong earthquake.
"Turkey is ready to help the victims in every way possible," Cicek added.
Turkish Foreign Ministry said 30 Turkish nationals are missing after the tsunamis hit the Asian region.
Twenty-one Turkish citizens are missing in Thailand, three in Sri lanka, two in Myanmar, one in Maldives, one in Malaysia, one in Indonesia and one in India, according to the ministry.
Turkey's Anatolia News Agency reported Monday that the Turkish Airlines (THY) would send an Airbus A-340 plane to Maldive Islands to bring back 300 Turkish citizens who survived the recent quake disaster in Southern Asia.
Turkish emergency authorities announced that the government would extend financial assistance to the countries hit by the biggest earthquake in the past 40 years, registered at 8.7 on the Richter Scale.
