The Iranian government has pledged US$2 million worth of humanitarian aid to
Indonesia's tsunami victims as part of its US$5 million aid for countries
affected by the Dec. 26 disaster, an official said Tuesday. Iran's Minister
for Asian and Pacific Affairs Mohsen Aminzadeh told reporters in Jakarta that
the aid will include US$1.4 million in cash and US$600,000 worth of relief
supplies, including food, medicine and blankets. "Although Iran is not a rich
country, we fell obliged to help Indonesia, a fellow Muslim country," he said.
