14/1/2005 11:33

One more South African has been confirmed dead after the December 26 tsunami in Thailand, bringing the total of dead South Africans to 11, the country's foreign ministry said on Thursday.
The number of people missing, feared dead, dropped to four as a result. But 41 South Africans remained unaccounted for by Thursday afternoon.
The figure dropped from more than 300 at the weekend as people who had been in the area at the time of the disaster told the foreign ministry that they were unharmed.
A ministry spokesman said at this point, identification of bodies was only possible by DNA tests, which were being carried out at Krabi in Thailand, according to a report of the SAPA news agency.
More than 2,000 South Africans were estimated to be in Thailand and other southeastern and southern Asian countries when the killer tsunami hit the Indian Ocean region, claiming more than 150, 000 lives so far while leaving millions homeless and in urgent needs for international aids.
