The United States said on Friday that there are a total of 34 Americans are either confirmed dead or presumed dead in Asia's deadly tsunami disaster which has killed over 200,000 people.

"There are 18 Americans who are confirmed dead in the tsunami,"State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said at a briefing, adding that there are 16 others presumed dead in the disaster.

Boucher said that there are 153 Americans that are still unaccounted for.

The United States has pledged an aid of 350 million dollars forthe nations in South Asia and Southeast Asia that are hit by the tsunami disaster, the most deadly in decades. Enditem
