A US Marine helicopter crashed early Wednesday near the town of Rutbah in
western Iraq, the US military said in a statement, which, however, gave no words
on casualties.
According to the statement, the helicopter, on security and stabilization
operation by then, crashed at about 1:20 a.m. local time (2220 GMT Tuesday) in
the area close to Jordan.
A search and rescue team has rushed to the spot and the cause of the accident
is under investigation, the military said. No further details are available for
now.
