28/1/2005 17:17

Iraqis living in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) started voting on Friday in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi and Dubai, one of seven emirates in the country, with the process lasting until Sunday.
Mike Burke, head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM)'s Iraq out-of-country voting programme in the UAE, earlier told the press that more than 12,581 of about 60,000 to 65,000 eligible Iraqi voters had registered to vote in the UAE.
The UAE is one of 14 countries where the IOM is organizing a vote in parallel with US-backed elections to the 275-member transitional National Assembly taking place in Iraq on Jan. 30.
Meanwhile, other than the UAE, out-of-country voting also take place in Australia, Britain, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Iran, Jordan, the Netherlands, Sweden, Syria, Turkey and the United States.
