Some 800 of the 1041 registered Iraqi electors living in France voted since
two poll offices opened in Paris on Friday, including some 150 on Sunday
morning, French TF1 television reported.
There was no incident, all happened in enthusiasm and calmness, said Jerome
Heidz, an official with the French International Migration Organization (IMO).
The poll on Sunday began with the arrival of some 50 Iraqi voters coming from
Southwest France. Among them were businessmen, students, technicians, workers
and restaurant bosses.
"We have been thinking of coming here since one month ago," said Abdul Rahman
Zubeyri, 45, Kurd. "For us all, it is a dream torealize. Finally we have free
and democratic elections."
