Three US marines were killed insouth of Baghdad on Monday, the US military said in a statement.

"Three US Marines were killed in action and two others wounded

on January 31 while conducting security and stability operations innorthern Babil Province," the statement said, without elaborating.More than 1,420 US servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the
