A US marine was killed on Thursday in military operation in Iraq's western Anbar province, the US military said in a statement on Friday.
The soldier from I Marine Expeditionary Force was killed on Thursday during "security and stability operation in Al-Anbar province," the statement said, without giving further details.
US and Iraqi forces have since Sunday conducted the Operation River Blitz along the Euphrates in western Anbar province to crack down on insurgency.
More than 1,470 US servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the US invasion of the country in March 2003.
