Denmark to send more soldiers to NATO training force in Iraq

Denmark will increase its contribution to NATO's training force in Iraq with a contingent of12 soldiers, Ritzau news bureau reported on Wednesday.

According to Danish Defence Minister Soren Gade, the group willbe lead by Major General Anger Rokos, the second-in-command for the 150-man strong training force. The total number of Danish troops in the NATO group will be 17.

The goal of the NATO training group is to train Iraqi military personnel so that they can assume the task of ensuring stability after the American-lead coalition withdraws.

The deployment will take place in conjunction with the rotationof the 525 man strong Danish contingent in February. Enditem
