Nomination ballots for the 77th Academy Awards were mailed out over the
past week, with the largest group of ballots sent to California voters Monday,
the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced.
The official ballots, sent to the 5,808 voting Academy members, must be
returned to PricewaterhouseCoopers by Jan. 15, and would be ruled invalid after
being received lather than the date.
PricewaterhouseCoopers verifies there are no duplicate or missing ballots and
tabulates the final results.
The academy also announced that Friday is the deadline for a feature film to
begin a seven-day run in Los Angeles County to qualify for Oscar consideration.
To be eligible for an Oscar nomination, producers must have submitted the
official screen credit forms to the Academy by Dec. 1, said Academy President
Frank Pierson.
Oscar nominations will be announced on Jan. 25 at the Academy's Samuel
Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2004 will be presented on
Feb. 25 at the Kodak Theater, and will be broadcast live on ABC.
