Karami turns down opposition's demands
16/3/2005 14:20
Lebanese interim Prime Minister Omar Karami has turned down preconditions
from the opposition on the formation of a new government.
After Monday
evening talks, Karami told reporters he met with opposition representatives to
discuss their demands. He also said further dialogue was on the agenda.
The Lebanese opposition raised three preconditions to Karami on
government formation, including an "impartial" transitional government, the
resignation of Lebanese intelligence chiefs and an international inquiry into
Hariri's killing.
The opposition representatives noted their demands
must first be met before they could agree to further dialogue and build trust in
the government.
