Lebanon's pro-Syrian prime minister-designate has won support from allies at
the first round of talks on forming a unity government.
The consultation was held between pro-government groups on Tuesday to discuss
the shape and make-up of a new cabinet that would lead the country to general
elections in May.
Participants said the first task of the new government
should be to investigate fully the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik
al-Hariri.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Hezbullah Party said, if needed, the
party was willing to cooperate with the new government.
Later, Karami
opened a second round of consultations with opposition figures.
