Two people were killed and eight others injured when a car bomb explosion
rocked the Lebanese capital Beirut on Saturday, the official Lebanese news
agency ANI reported.
ANI said the blast was caused by a car bomb and identified the two victims as
Indians.
The blast occurred at around 9:40 p.m. local time (1940 GMT) ina print
factory in the industrial Sinn el-Fil district of east Beirut, according to the
witnesses.
There is another bomb in the region, a security official told Xinhua on
condition of anonymity.
Smoke could be seen rising from the spot and ambulances have rushed to the
area to evacuate the casualties, witnesses said.
They added that the explosion caused a huge fire and fire fighters were
trying to contain blazes in several buildings.
Lebanese opposition leader Walid Jumblatt condemned the explosion, urging the
immediate resignation of Lebanese security and intelligence officials.
The blast came after two bomb attacks in Lebanon in the past week, during
which two people were killed and more than 10 injured.
Lebanon has plunged into a political turbulence since the assassination of
former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri on Feb. 14.
