New Kyrgyz Parliament elects speaker
28/3/2005 17:11
The new unicameral parliament in Kyrgyzstan has elected Omurbek Tekebayev
as parliamentary speaker.
Tekebayev was previously the vice speaker of
parliament in the country's old legislative body.
Simultaneously with
the one-chamber parliament, deputies of the Kyrgyz Supreme Council of the old
convocation are also holding meetings.
Kyrgyz state bodies have still
not decided which of the two parliaments is legitimate in the new government.
