At least two Swedes missing in Indonesia
30/3/2005 11:37

At least two Swedes have been reportedly missing following the massive earthquake that struck Indonesia's west coast, Radio Sweden reported on Tuesday.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman has confirmed the reports, but will not confirm a report by the Swedish news agency TT that said four Swedes were missing.
The news comes as the latest figures from last year's Asian tsunami have been released: official numbers show 289 Swedes dead and another 255 confirmed missing in that disaster.
Meanwhile, the Swedish government seems to have learned its lesson following the sharp criticism of its handling of the Asian tsunami disaster.
The government's disaster contingency plans were kicked into action immediately following word of the massive earthquake off the coast of Indonesia on Monday.
The government held an emergency meeting, and instructed personnel in the region to make emergency preparations. Swedish tourists were evacuated from beach hotels in Phuket and emergency contact information was made immediately available.
Conflicting estimates of the dead in that earthquake vary from 200 to 2,000.
