22/7/2005 11:37

North Korea has expressed its willingness to settle the nuclear issue during the forthcoming six-party talks.

North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman says this will happen only if the United States respects North Korea and its system and Washington is willing to build up confidence with Pyongyang.

The spokesman added that not a single nuclear weapon will be needed if the US remove its nuclear threat and hostile policy to bring down the North Korean system.

He also demanded the US not disturb North Korea¡¯s economic cooperation with other countries.

The spokesman stressed that North Korea wants to achieve denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and consultation.
