A teenager who died last Tuesday was the sixth human fatality of avian flu in Indonesia, while two women suspected of having the virus died on Saturday, the Jakarta Post said on Monday.

Laboratory tests on samples taken from the girl who died on Nov.8, identified as Siti Sarah, confirmed that she had bird flu, the newspaper quoted Ilham Patu, the bird flu surveillance head of the Sulianti Saroso Infectious Hospital, as saying.

"We are still waiting for the results of tests conducted in theWHO-sanctioned laboratory in Hong Kong," he said, adding that if the tests came back positive, WHO would record Sarah as the sixth Indonesian bird flu death in human.

WHO has recorded nine positive bird flu patients in Indonesia, of whom five have died.

Meanwhile, Patu said, two other patients died of respiratory problems."Both displayed bird flu symptoms, including high fever, cough and acute pneumonia. We could not do much as they were admitted here in a critical condition," he said.
