More than 100 people who had close contact with a bird-flu infected patient
in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have been released from
medical observation, the local health department reported yesterday.
The bird flu has been prevented spreading to other people, said Tan
Mingjie, deputy head of the regional health bureau.
On November 23, a 10-year-old girl surnamed Tang from Baiyangping Village of
Liangshui Township, Ziyuan County, developed fever and pneumonia. She tested
positive for the H5N1 virus.
Now she is undergoing treatment and recovering.
The 100-plus people in the region are in good condition and have been
dismissed from medical observation, said Tan.
