Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said
Saturday that the Peregrine Falcon found in Tin Shui Wai earlier this week was
confirmed to be H5N1 positive after a series of laboratory tests.
The bird was collected by AFCD staff on Tuesday in Grandeur Terrace upon a
public referral and died the following day.
A department spokesman reminded the public to observe good personal hygiene.
"They should avoid personal contact with wild birds and live poultry and
clean their hands thoroughly after coming into contactwith them," he said.
A number of birds had been tested positive for H5N1 virus in Hong Kong since
the beginning of this year.
