A woman, 35, one of the four bird flu suspects in Garut, Indonesia's West
Java province, was tested positive and eventually died.
"Now three had been tested positive, and two had succumbed from the disease.
The latest victim, the 35-year-old woman, had died," Antara news agency on
Monday quoted Health Ministry's Disease Eradication and Environmental Health
Director General I Nyoman Kandun as saying.
The other bird flu suspects are a 20-year-old man, a girl, 13, and a boy,
four, who had died before a sample of his blood taken for examination.
Right now, he said Sunda evening, there are nine bird flu cases in Garut
regency, one of them is a young man, 17, still alive, and a girl, nine, who had
died.
Two other patients respectively five and six years old, had been tested
negative for the bird flu virus, and now still under treatment at the Hasan
Sadikin general hospital in Bandung.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has yet to receive information on a woman
patient, 32, suspected of infected with the virus.
Bird flu cases in Indonesia had reached 61, 46 of whom had died.
The latest patient who had been tested positive is a girl aged six years and
3 months, who is still under treatment at Sulianto Saroso hospital for
infectious diseases in Jakarta.
